December Signature Cookie - Chocolate Candy Cane Cookies

The splash of peppermint extract and crushed up candy canes make these cookies the perfect festive treat for the holidays! Bake up a batch then head to our Home for the Holiday Sale next weekend!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder sifted

  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder sifted

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup brown sugar packed

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)

  • 1 tsp peppermint extract optional

  • 1 bag White Candy Melts or white chocolate, melted*

  • vegetable shortening or coconut oil as needed to thin candy melts

  • crushed candy canes

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powders, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer, beat butter and sugars on med-high until light and fluffy (approx. 2-3mins). Reduce speed and add egg and peppermint extract. Beat until well combined. Add flour mixture and mix until just combined.

  • Chill dough for at least 1 hour or overnight.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets or lightly oil.

  • Using a medium cookie scoop, portion dough onto baking sheet. Bake for approximately 10 mins, or until the middle is set. Cookies will deflate and crinkle a bit upon cooling.

  • Cool on pans for 5 mins then transfer to to a wire rack to cool completely.

  • Dip in melted candy melts or white chocolate, place on a parchment lined baking sheet and sprinkle with crushed candy canes. Allow to set.

November Signature Snack - Apple Crisp

We counted our blessings with every bite while enjoying this delicious Apple Crisp. We used apples right off the Eddy Street apple trees and topped the warm Apple Crisp with our favorite ice cream and a swirl of caramel.

Plus, it smells better than any fall candle on the shelf. Not only does it make your house homey, but it makes your tummy homey, too.

Ingredients:

Pie Filling:

  • 2 lbs apples (peeled and cut into pieces

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Topping:

  • 1/4 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal (we used Quick Quaker Oats)

  • 1 stick butter or margarine

  • 1/2 box yellow cake mix

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.

  2. Peel and slice apples. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together.

  3. Mix apples with cinnamon/sugar mixture and place in 9x13 pan.

  4. Mix topping ingredients and cover apples.

  5. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, then remove from oven.

  6. Serve with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel.

October Signature Cookie - Peanut Butter Spider Cookies

These easy-to-make and fang-tastically delightful Peanut Butter Spider Cookies make for a perfect party treat! Whip up a batch, then head on down to Eddy Street this coming weekend, October 16-18, for our Spooktacular Soiree Sale!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 and 1/4 cups all purpose flour

  • 24 mini Reese’s Cups

  • 48 candy eyes

  • chocolate icing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a large bowl, mixer butter and sugars together. Add peanut butter, then egg and vanilla. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes.

  3. Remove chilled dough and roll into 3/4-1 inch balls (we found smaller dough balls were better). Place on an ungreased baking sheet, bake for 10 minutes or until done.

  4. Using a spoon, push down the center of each cookie. Transfer to wire rack.

  5. While cooling, pipe the chocolate icing onto each cookie, drawing out 8 legs.

  6. Place one mini Reese’s Cup on each cookie.

  7. Dot each candy eye with chocolate icing, then place on each Reece’s Cup .

  8. Place in fridge for 10 to 15 minutes so they firm up.
